Facts
The Countach Quattrovalvole used a 5.2-litre V12 with four valves per cylinder.
The 5000 S version increased the V12’s displacement to about 4.8 litres.
The LP400 S adopted much wider low-profile Pirelli tyres together with flared wheel arches.
The final 25th Anniversary derivative was the most numerous classic Countach version, with 658 examples built.
Lamborghini records 152 examples of the original LP400 version.
The production Countach LP400 entered manufacture in 1974.
Production of the classic Countach ended in 1990, when it was succeeded by the Diablo.
The Countach prototype was shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1971.
Early LP400s are distinguished by the characteristic roof channel known as the “Periscopio”.
Development of the LP400 S drew on privately commissioned modified Countachs built for Walter Wolf.
